Spirits Sub Category: Gin
Gin: A distilled Spirit that derives its predominant flavor from juniper berries (Juniperus communis). In addition to juniper, gin tends to be flavored with botanical/herbal, spice, floral or fruit-flavors or often a combination. The European Union has established a minimum alcohol content of 37.5 percent alcohol by volume for Gin but most of them are much higher.
In the past two decades Italy has started to produce several gins. While gin is not a native spirit to Italy, the country provides wonderful juniper berries to many distillers across the world.
